Dr. Kalli, as he is popularly addressed in the community, was born in Damasak town in 1958. He has been the Deputy Registrar of the School of Postgraduate Studies, University of Maiduguri since the year 2004. He joined the services of the University in 1984 as Administrative Assistant, Examination & Records, with the main duties of maintaining and updating students’ records, preparation of transcripts and statement of results for undergraduates and diploma students and handling correspondences with Heads of Department on Examination issues. Since 1986 when he left that office, he has held the following positions: Administrative Officer (Academic Division) Assistant Registrar (Establishment Division) Senior Assistant Registrar II, Senior Assistant Registrar I, Principal Assistant Registrar (Housing and Passage of the Establishment Division), Principal Assistant Registrar and Head of the Vice Chancellor’s Office, the last of which was from 1998-2004. Dr. Kalli attended Central Primary School, Damaturu from 1965-1972, where he obtained the First Leaving School Certificate. He then proceeded to Government Secondary School, Nguru and obtained the West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1977. From 1978-1980 he was a student at the School for General Studies Bayero (BUK) .He obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Education) in the same University (BUK) in 1983. He obtained his Master of Arts (Education) in the University of Maiduguri in 1993. In 1994, he went back to BUK for his Ph.D, which he obtained in 2002. Dr Kalli is a member of Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators (ANUPA) and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU). He has over 15 publications, which includes the book titled: The Kanuri in Diaspora: The Contributions of Kanem Borno Ulama to Islamic Education in Nupe Yorubalands (2005). His Local Government of origin is Monguno and he speaks Kanuri, Hausa, English and Shuwa Arab. He is married and has seven children, the eldest of whom is now 22 and the youngest 7. His hobbies include travelling, jogging, watching educational documentary films and reading historical books and interesting stories.
