Hajja Hadija Ahaiye was born in Maiduguri in 1932. She was enrolled into Yerwa Central Elementary School in 1941 and completed the school in 1944. She said her first teacher in the school was Umar Garbai, who later became the 18th Shehu of Borno, Shehu Umar Ibn Abubakar Garbai El-Kanemi (1968-1974), the father of the reigning Shehu of Borno, Shehu Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi. In 1945 she gained admission into Women’s Teachers College (W.T.C.) Sokoto where she studied up to 1947. Upon return she was posted to Hausari Primary School as a class teacher. A year later she was transferred to Yerwa Central Primary School, her Alma Mata. She has also taught in Lamisula Primary School. After her training as Grade11 teacher, she was posted to Hausari Primary School. She was the first Headmistress of Kulo Gumna Primary School, which was established in 1976. Hajja Ahaiye also worked in Budum Primary School from 1983 to 1986. She voluntarily retired in 1986 as Headmistress of Budum Primary School. Hajja Ahaiye is blessed with one child.
