Emirs of Machina, Damaturu, Gujba and Gazargamu of Yobe State

(1) Emir of Machina
Alhaji Bashir al-Bishir Bukar Machinamai was born on 1st January, 1958. He was appointed on the 25th July, 1998 as the 72nd Emir of Machina. He succeeded his father the late Mai Machinama, Alhaji Bukar Machinama.
As a child Alhaji Bashir al-Bishir Bukar Machinamai was first sent to Qur’anic School and was later enrolled into Machina Central Primary in 1966. He completed his primary education in 1972. He then attended the former Government Crafts School Maiduguri from 1979 to 1974. After that he proceeded to Gombe Teachers’ College where he completed his Grade II Teachers’ Certificate Course in 1977. By 1984 he had obtained the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in Kashim Ibrahim College of Education Maiduguri. To further his Education, he proceeded to the University of Maiduguri where he graduated in the year 1990 with Bachelors Degree in Education (B. Ed.). Between 1992 and 1996 he was again in the University of Maiduguri for his Masters Degree in Public Administration (M.P.A).

(2) Emir of Damaturu
Alhaji Shehu Hashimi Ibn El-Kanemi was born in Murfa Kalam village of Damaturu Local Government Area. he was appointed Emir of Damaturu on the 15th May, 2004. following the death, in the previous year, in Mecca of his brother, the late Emir, Alhaji Bukar Ibn Elkanemi,.
He started his primary education in Murfa Kalam Primary School in 1973 and completed in 1978. He then proceeded to Government Secondary School at Benisheik in 1978 and completed his education in 1983. To further his Education, he attended Ramat Polytechnic, Maiduguri where he obtained Diploma in Accounting and Auditing in 1988. He later proceeded to Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi and obtained his Advance Diploma at in the year 2002.
He first started working as a cashier with A.M.G. and sons, a Damaturu based Agro allied Company where he worked from 1983-1987. He later joined the services of Damaturu Local Government as Executive Officer Accounts. With the creation of Yobe State in 1991, he transferred his service to State Government as Accountant in the State Hotel and later to the Hospitals Management Board where he worked from 1992 to 1995. He rose to the rank of Director Finance and Supply in the Governor’s Office in 1996. He was appointed District Head of Damaturu by his late brother, Emir Alhaji Bukar Ibn Elkanemi in the year 2000.(3) Emir of Gujba
Mai Shettima Muktar Ibn Ali Gangaram was appointed the first Emir of Gujba on 3rd of June, 2000. He was born in Goniri town and began his Elementary School in 1946 in Gujba. In 1950 he attended Central Primary School Maiduguri. From 1952-1954 he attended Senior Primary School Kaduna. After that, in 1955, he worked briefly in the Native Authority (N.A) Works Department, Kaduna. In 1962 he attended a Treasury Course in the same town. From 1962-65 he worked with the Ministry of Finance, Kaduna. He was later transferred to Jos Sub Treasury Department.
When the defunct North Eastern State was created, he was deployed to Yola sub-treasury, where he worked from 1968-69. About the same time, he transferred his services to the Borno Sub-treasury.
In October, 1969 he was appointed the Village Head of Goniri, the post he had been holding until his appointment as the first Emir of Gujba.

(4) Emir of Gazargamu
Mai Tujani Saleh Geidam was appointed the first Emir of Gazargamu in 1993. That emirate was later dissolved. However, when the emirate was recreated in the year 2000, he was re-appointed as the 2nd Emir of Gazargamu in the same year.
Mai Tujani was born in Ngamma Mairari village in 1946. He attended Geidam Elmentary School in 1953 and Yerwa Senior Primary School in 1957. He worked as a primary school teacher from 1962 to 1969. From 1969 to 1972, he attended the famous School for Arabic Studies Kano.
From 1977 to 1978 he taught in Dapchi Primary School. In 1979 he proceeded to the Ahmadu Bello University (A.B.U) Zaria, Kongo Campus where he obtained Diploma in Sharia law.
After that he taught in Shehu Garbai Primary School Maiduguri. In 1976 he transferred his service to the Borno State Judiciary as Assistant Registrar Area Court, Gwange. With the creation of Local Governments in 1976, he became the Chairman of Geidam Local Government Council.
Between 1979 and 1983 he served as the Borno State Commissioner in the Ministries for Animal and Forestry, Agriculture, Special Duties and Ministry of Works and Housing.
To further his Education, he joined the University of Maiduguri and obtained his L. L.B. He attended the Law School, Lagos in 1990. When Yobe State was created in 1991, he was appointed Chairman, Yobe State Scholarship Board. In the same year he was appointed Chairman, Governing Council for College of Education, Gashua.
