A simple and straight forward gentleman, a steadfast and deeply religious personality, a doyen of philanthropy, a self-educated and highly philosophical businessman, Alhaji Bukar Bolori is indisputably one of the highly respected members of the business community, not only in Borno State, but also in Nigeria as a whole. His cardinal principles are “love to those near and dear and to the poor and the oppressed”. He was born in 1930 in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State. His parents also lived in Bolori District of Maiduguri Metropolitan Area. Therefore the people both of Kaga and Maiduguri Metropolitan consider him as their beloved ‘son of the soil.’ In his childhood, as is the tradition in Kanuri society, Alhaji Bukar Bolori was sent to Quranic school. After attaining the basic standard in Islamic education, he became a trader, engaging mainly in buying and selling goods. He was then only thirteen years old. Thus, he started going into business as an adolescent. Today, his business concerns in and outside Borno State provide job opportunities to many people. Alhaji Bukar Bolori supports all voluntary associations with noble objectives. He has also been chairman of several adhoc committees set up by the Borno State Government. In recognition of his community service, he has been honored by many organizations in and outside Borno State. In December 2006, he was awarded the National Honour of the "Officer of the Oder of the Niger (OON)" by the Federal Government. He is married and is blessed with over twenty children.
